Door-to-door canvassing is a technique used for sales, marketing, advertising, evangelism, or campaigning in which a person or people walk from one house to another, attempting to sell or advertise a product or service to the general public or gathering information. People who adopt this sales style are sometimes referred to as travelling salespeople or drummers (someone who “drums up” business), and the tactic is also known as direct sales. Another variation involves cold contacting initially, followed by another sales representative attempting to secure consent that a salesperson should visit.
